Heat Pump Technology

If you are considering buying a new dryer, choosing a heat pump model is a great option when trying to reduce your bills. These dryers may seem like they take longer to dry the clothes, (which they often do) but their heat pump technology makes them more energy efficient.

Hot air absorbs moisture from your clothes to get them dry. The air then passes through an evaporator, removing the moisture which is stored in a tank. The remaining air is re-heated and re-circulated back into the drum to begin the process again.

We all love to dry our clothes outdoors, but when the British weather fails - make sure your dryer is an energy-efficient model. Airers are a good option too, for clothes not able to be tumble dried.

This means that food is cooked quickly, without wasting any heat, making induction hobs a good choice for saving on your bills.

When you purchase a new appliance, don’t throw the instruction manual away. It may seem odd, but it can contain vital information on how to get the best from your machine.

Make sure you understand all the programmes, settings, and cycles at your disposal, as they can be tailored to your needs whilst reducing water and electricity used.

We all know that refrigeration appliances need to be on all the time, but there is something you can do. Opening the doors too frequently means cool air escapes and warm air enters, making the appliance work harder to reach the correct temperature. Simply reduce the times the doors are opened to save on your bills.

If like most families in the UK, you have phone chargers, gaming consoles, appliances and TVs all plugged in, switching them off at the plug could save you more than you realise. While we can’t guarantee how much energy your plugs being left on costs you, we do know that they will be using electricity, albeit a small amount. For example, turning off lights when you leave the room is estimated to save you £46* a year.
